The authors introduce the multi-component seismic monitoring system AETA (acoustic & electromagnetic testing all in one system). The results of experiments in Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet, Hebei, Beijing and Guangdong prove that the system AETA has the proper sensitivity with low cost and is easy to be installed. Meanwhile, the raw data and feature data refined from raw data have a good indication of earthquake. More subsequent experiments will be organized in west of China, capital circle of China and Taiwan Strait for deep research on effect of prediction.

A pipelined architecture with novel memory structure is proposed with several modifications of the ME algorithm. Fast motion estimation with low hardware cost and less memory access is achieved by proper search strategy, efficient rate distortion optimization (RDO) cost calculation and interpolation components, innovative memory structure and optimized dataflow scheduling. The proposed design is synthesized by SMIC 130 nm CMOS technology process with a clock frequency of 167 MHz and consumes 181.7 K logic gates and 13.8 KB memory, which shows great hardware efficiency compared with other designs. The proposed design was finally integrated within an H.264/AVC encoder for FPGA prototyping and VLSI implementation. The core area of the overall chip is 1.74 mm×1.74 mm with SMIC 65 nm CMOS technology which can support real-time HD(1080P@60fps) encoding with a clock frequency of 350 MHz.

A novel FPGA fabric, reconfigurable operators (ReOps) array, which can reduce configurable time greatly and obtain a comparable performance on speed, is composed of multiple kinds of ReOps which are coarse-grain and function changeable instead of fine-grain LUT (lookup table)-based CLBs (configurable logic blocks). ReOps are classified into four kinds, arithmetic ReOps, control ReOps, path ReOps and memory ReOps. The function set of ReOps is just like a set of instruction of circuit which is soundness for circuits’ implementation. A hierarchy interconnection architecture consists of global interconnection for performing long distance transfer, local interconnection for performing adjacent transfer and IO interconnection for performing system interface, is presented. The switch box is implemented by general switch array. Two kinds of segments are proposed, single line and group lines. The width of group lines is n (integer, n>1) bits which behaved consistently and can get a great reduction on configuration bit-stream and a better speed. In order to do deep research and analysis, a model of this fabric is also developed which can obtain a different fabric quickly with different architecture file.

Base on traditional integrated circuit (IC) low power methods, the authors propose three low power technologies for further research and take an implementation of WSN sensor node as an example. At system level, the authors present an optimum scheme combined with compiling technology and a hardware structure which provides special low power modes for WSN. At circuit level, considering clock placement in arithmetic mapping phase, clock operators in collaboration with IC operator design methodology (ODM) is proposed. A low power design of WSN sensor node is implemented to verify the low power technologies presented above. The testing results show that WSN sensor node consumes 167 μW at chip level and PCB system 1.035 mW at PCB system level in deep sleep mode by the three methods.

With a verification environment based on the UVM (universal verification Methodology) verification methodology and UVM1.1 standard library, building a reference model through the aspect-oriented paradigm and separation of properties of function, timing and structure and generating the high functional coverage test cases based on knowledge base at the transaction level, the integrated verification platform took the PKU-DSPII as example, to implement RISC CPU-oriented functional verification and domain reuse. Experimental results show that the reusability is enhanced significantly and the coverage efficiency of the test cases improves about 7% relatively.

Abstract618)      PDF(pc) (3633KB)(359)       Save
By analyzing the application demand of the medical electronics, an MCU architecture named PKU-DSPII with application specific instruction set is proposed. Multilevel storage structures with direct memory access controller (DMAC) and abundant system control modules and peripheral interfaces are integrated in the MCU, which supports three booting modes including self-updating mode. PKU-DSPII is implemented with CSMC 0.18μm technology and LQFP package while the die area is 3.2 mm×3.2 mm and the measured power consumption is 96.9 mW at working frequency of 100 MHz.

Effect of Environment Volume Change upon the Richness of Species:A Case Study of Qilihai Wetland of Tianjin

Abstract668)            Save
Researches on species extinction caused by the shrink or loss of habitat are one of the hottest points of biological study, in which numerous biological scientists have been involved. The Tianjin Qilihai Wetland was set to example to simulate the mechanism between habitat destruction and species richness. This research combined theoretical research with numeral simulation and set up the evolutional model of exponent upon the effect of human activities. 1) The exponent value of dis defined as the coefficient value of the interaction between species and environment and it can be applied to research the evolutional mechanism of different meta-population. When the condition of d<1 is met, the effect of environment on meta-population is beneficial to the development of species and habitat destruction will not lead to species extinction. While the condition of d>1 is met, the strongest species will be driven to extinguish owing to the decrease of content of habitat and the system will reach new state in a short time. The bigger the value of d is, the shorter of time system reach new state is. 2) The third mechanism of extinction of meta-population, the coordinate law of evolution and degradation of species in the restoration of destruction habitat are also found, which is the same evolutional trait of different species. The evolutional law between the restoration and destruction of habitat has same points and differences.

Prediction of Land Cover Change Based on the Patch-Dynamics Model:
A Case Study of Beijing

Abstract633)            Save
The model of Patch-dynamics was applied to simulate the land cover based on land change data. The results indicated that the percentage of arable land in total area will continue to descend while urban construction and forest land will ascend along time. The model of Patch-dynamics is better than traditional simple dynamics model in that it takes into a account the change process of simulation's object and interaction of different land use type. Compared with actual condition in 2001, the difference between the results of Patch-dynamics model and actual condition lies between 0 and 0.05 and has small difference for little percentage of land use type. The result makesclear that the model of Patch-dynamics can simulate the change condition of future scene. However, the model of Patch-dynamics can only apply to ten-year scale of land use change. The longer the simulation period, the more the simulation relative error. The conflict of land use should be harmonized, the urban green space should also be maintained, and some suggestions about land use and urban green space have been carried out.
